TAMPA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT · HCP ASSOCIATES
Passenger research for airport concessions planning.
I completed 100+ in-person passenger surveys per week as part of HCP Associates’ research at Tampa International Airport. The broader study collected more than 3,000 responses to inform future shopping and dining decisions.

01 / PROJECT CONTEXT
Research for future airport concessions
The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority and Paslay Group engaged HCP Associates to research passenger preferences as Tampa International Airport planned future concessions, including the context of its new Airside D terminal.
The study addressed shopping and dining behavior, brand expectations, and service needs. HCP’s team collected responses over an extended period using a quota structure intended to reflect the airport’s departing passenger mix. My role was within that larger research operation.
02 / MY WORK
Passenger fieldwork and research support
01
In-person collection
I administered at least 100 passenger intercept surveys per week. The work involved approaching travelers and administering surveys repeatedly in an operating airport, contributing responses to the wider HCP study.
02
Survey data handling
I supported the handling of survey data through the project’s SurveyMonkey and Excel workflow. The work connected the initial passenger conversation to the structured information used by the research team.
03
Reporting support
I contributed research inputs and reporting support. HCP and Paslay managed the broader methodology and study; the airport and its partners retained responsibility for concessions planning.
How passenger feedback entered the planning process
My fieldwork supplied responses to a larger research program. The study team combined those responses to examine shopping and dining preferences.
Passenger interviews
My contribution: 100+ surveys per week.
I approached travelers and administered the passenger survey in person.
A broader passenger sample
3,000+ intercepts across the project.
HCP managed collection against quotas intended to reflect departing travelers.
Shopping & dining
HCAA and its planning partners.
Research addressed purchase behavior, brand expectations, and service needs for future concessions.
The weekly figure describes my work; the project total describes the full study. They cover different time spans and are not a percentage comparison.
03 / DELIVERABLES
Completed surveys and reporting support
My deliverables were completed passenger surveys, survey-data inputs, and reporting support. The larger project supplied passenger preference evidence for airport shopping and dining planning.
